The commercial-quality press is available to local people seeking to press their own fruit (not just apples), gather with friends to take part in a sustainable and fun activity.  The press includes a scratter which chops fruit prior to pressing.
The group hope that this will enable local people to develop food resources in this area and reduce dependence on expensive, environmentally damaging, supermarket produce.
The apple press was purchased with a Derbyshire Community Action Grant.
Please email admin@whistlewoodcommon.org with a request to hire the apple press in 2018.
Hire costs: £10 per day. A £50 returnable deposit is required and you must return the press in a clean condition. If the press is not needed the next day we can be flexible about adding another day within the £10 cost. The press and scratter will fit in the back of a hatchback car, but you will need two people to lift it in and out.
Last year the press was very popular so book early to get the dates you want.
